Testing & Diagnostics
Your pet can’t always show how they’re feeling, and sometimes even when you’re loving and observant, it’s easy to miss early signs that something’s changing. That’s where diagnostics help.
Our team uses in-house testing and imaging to get a closer look at what’s happening beneath the surface.
Whether it’s part of a routine checkup, prep for a procedure, or a way to better understand a concern, these tools help us give your pet the care they deserve—with clarity and confidence.

What’s Included in Annual Bloodwork
Bloodwork is one of the simplest ways to catch changes early and understand what’s going on inside your pet’s body. Even when they seem perfectly healthy on the outside, blood panels help us stay one step ahead.
We typically recommend annual bloodwork that includes:
- Complete Blood Count (CBC): Checks for signs of infection, inflammation, anemia, and how the immune system is doing
- Blood Chemistry Panel: Gives us insight into kidney, liver, and pancreas function, as well as blood sugar and protein levels
- Early Kidney Screen: Helps detect kidney changes before they become serious
These results give us a clearer picture of your pet’s health and help us make thoughtful decisions about their ongoing care.
Pre-Anesthetic Bloodwork
Before any surgery or dental procedure involving anesthesia, we run a quick set of lab tests to make sure your pet is ready.
This usually includes:
- CBC
- Blood Chemistry Panel
- Electrolytes
These tests let us know if your pet can safely handle anesthesia or if we need to adjust the plan. It’s one more way we look out for their comfort and safety from start to finish.
Imaging & Screenings
- When we need more than lab work to understand what’s going on, we turn to imaging and other diagnostic tools that help us take a closer look
- Digital X-rays give us fast, detailed images of bones, joints, and internal organs
- Ultrasound with guided urine collection allows us to gently examine internal structures and collect clean urine samples
- Urinalysis checks for infections, kidney issues, or signs of diabetes
- Blood pressure screening is especially helpful for older pets or those showing changes in behavior, energy, or appetite
We perform these screenings right here in the clinic, so we can move forward with answers—not wait for outside results.
Testing for Specific Conditions
Some pets need a little extra digging to get to the bottom of an issue. We offer a range of targeted diagnostics when symptoms are ongoing or don’t have a clear cause.
- Allergy Testing: For skin irritation, stomach sensitivity, or constant itching that might be linked to food or environmental allergens
- Dermatology Testing: Includes skin scrapes, cultures, or cytology for hot spots, infections, or chronic skin issues
- Feline Eye Evaluations: Specialized care for cats showing eye discharge, irritation, or changes in vision
- Cardiac Screening: When we detect a murmur or other signs of heart concerns, we use tools to assess heart function and rhythm
In many of these cases, we’re also determining whether medications are needed. Since we keep a fully stocked in-house pharmacy, we can often send you home with what your pet needs that same day.
How Diagnostics Guide Care
Diagnostics help us stay proactive, adjust care as your pet ages, and support long-term wellness. From early kidney changes to heart health, having the right information makes all the difference.
When combined with regular checkups, testing helps us see the full picture, so your pet gets the care they need—exactly when they need it.
Wondering if it’s time for bloodwork, imaging, or extra testing? We’ll help you decide what makes sense based on your pet’s age, breed, and health history.
